Because S.I.R. is the only professional organization of its kind focused on the unique needs of insurance research and/or planning professionals, it offers the following services to members, which are not readily available elsewhere.

PUBLICATIONS
The Society of Insurance Research provides a journal along with other publications of interest and value to its members.

RISK MANAGEMENT AND INSURANCE REVIEW – Beginning in 2003, S.I.R. members will begin receiving semi-annual issues of Risk Management and Insurance Review.  RMIR is a scholarly journal published by The American Risk and Insurance Association (ARIA).

Featured Articles – RMIR’s Featured Articles section includes refereed articles involving applications and applied techniques which address a broad range of issues from the fields of insurance research, risk management and employee benefits.

Education Insights – Features model lectures in the aforementioned areas at the graduate and undergraduate levels.

Perspectives Section – Includes articles providing new insights on research, business practices and public policy.   These articles may be scholarly or consist of opinions and discussion.  (This section provides an excellent opportunity for insurance research practitioners – as well as scholars, to share their research, or express views relating to various industry issues and developments.

NOTE – S.I.R. Members, and others, having an interest in publishing an article are strongly encouraged to send their submissions to RMIR for review. (See Call  For Papers).

RESEARCH REVIEW – A refereed journal previously published by The Society of Insurance Research from 1988 – 2002 has been discontinued.  Research Review included articles relating to many areas of insurance, with special emphasis on insurance research and planning. along with a written forum for the identification and discussion of insurance research and planning issues.

REPRINTS – Reprints of previous Research Review articles are available.  See Reprints.

S.I.R. NEWS – a quarterly newsletter reports on, Society Events (Workshops and Annual Conference), member activity, board decisions and on-going research efforts.  See S.I.R. News.

S.I.R. MEMBERSHIP DIRECTORY
– An invaluable reference source that includes a membership listing arranged alphabetically, by company and by geographical location, along with a skills matrix which identifies members in relation to their area of functional expertise.  An electronic version of the Membership Directory is available to members only. Enter the Members Forum (accessible only by entering User ID and Password provided to active members).  Enter the Knowledge Base and click on Membership Directory.

OTHER INDUSTRY PUBLICATIONS – May be accessed by visiting Insurance Links (accessible to all visitors).

CONFERENCES AND WORKSHOPS
S.I.R. conducts a series of conferences and workshops throughout the year.  These sessions are designed to offer members, and non-members, concentrated learning and professional development opportunities in the fields of insurance research and planning.  S.I.R. events are widely recognized for the quality of both speakers and content.  They also offer valuable opportunities to network with industry colleagues and fellow organization members.

NETWORKING
S.I.R. membership provides a variety of opportunities to develop professional contacts with peers and colleagues in addition to gaining personal recognition and development through –
  • Attendance at S.I.R. Events – Workshops and Conferences.
  • Participation as a speaker or panelist
  • Serving as a committee or board member
  • Personal contact with vendor and other service providers at the annual Exhibit fair. See Exhibitor Information.
  • Authoring an article in RMIR – Call for Papers.
